About the artists
at Skynine

We are artists with technology and the screen is our canvas. Constantly striving towards pixel perfection, we hold a strong fundamental belief that all projects are a work of art – a mentality that has solidified itself as the cornerstone of our company. This is what continually drives us to exceed the expectations of our clients and ourselves. For us, that is how we define success. We believe that visibility is important because it directly influences the perception of the quality of your image.
Originally established in 2008, the company’s long standing mission has been to bridge the gap between high-quality productions and reasonable budgets. Skynine has become a dependable resource for clients demanding quality, creativity, and partnership. Oh yeah, and we’re pretty fun people too!

Who We Are

Partners. Colleagues. Best Friends.

Matt Urquhart

Creative Director

Video making has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, dating back to the “dark days” of analog video capture. Wow, technology has come a long way. All this extra time inevitably led to less productive things like beer brewing, music making, and Fortnite.

Brandon Yenser

Technical Director

Hello! My name is Brandon Yenser. Most call me Brandon, some call me Yenser, and almost nobody calls me Tom. I have speculated that the name Brandon comes from the greek word for ‘Big;’ and Yenser comes from the Welsh word for ‘Yeller,’ though I have not yet submitted the 23andMe test I got for my last birthday to support this speculation.

Most people look at my dashing appearance and charming demeanor and assume I’m the coolest person you’d ever meet. They are, for the most part, correct and it happens surprisingly often. What they don’t see is the countless hours I’ve spent behind a computer, ensuring each and every client gets my full attention.

If you’ve ever collaborated with me on a project, you’ve undoubtedly benefited from my hawk-like attention to detail and meticulousness. I wouldn’t exactly call it OCD, per-se, but I have been known to get picky with things I produce. Most people don’t notice but I still think all of them add up to make the overall product feel better (or at least that’s what I keep telling myself).

After achieving a degree in Electronic Media at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, I accepted a highly-regarded apprenticeship at one of the largest production/post-production facilities on the east coast. It was here where I learned from some of the most respected editors and motion designers in the industry. One of these mentors actually tried persuading me not to be self-employed and he was probably right.

For the next few years, I took on the role of video artist at a digital marketing agency where I was responsible for all aspects of production. This allowed me to diversify my motion portfolio with projects from various corporate, education, non-profit, and medical markets. I then went on to create several cinematic-style short films on the side, unaware that I was paving the way for my future role as creative director at Skynine. Professional advice be damned!

Like most Greater Philadelphia area suburbanites, I say I’m from Philadelphia even though I live about a half-hour outside of the city. I still eat “hoagies”. I still go “down the shore”. “Whiz wit,” “go Phils,” and “jawn” are all still parts of my everyday vocabulary. I live in Montgomery County with my beautiful wife Rachael and adorable Mini Australian Shepherd named Kelby. She’s pretty much treated as our only child and it’s better that way – she’s a bit of a diva and would demand more attention if there were small humans in the house.

The one and only thing I have done longer than video making is drumming. Beginning my noise making journey at a spry age of 10, I became obsessed with drums, percussion, and music making. By age 13, I made my first homemade multi-track song recording with a dual tape deck, intuition, and a high-spirited attitude. I wouldn’t exactly call it a hit, but it gave grunge music a run for its money. Had my parents known they were signing up for a decade of relentless loud basement sounds, they would have encouraged the chess club. It could have been worse though, my wife signed up for a life-time of noise by choice!

I see myself as a tirelessly curious person, always exploring new crafts in an effort to experience new things. Thus, you can find me replacing the compressor in my car one night, making a batch of mead the next night, and building a wine bar out of reclaimed wood on the weekend. I may not have mastered all crafts, but the experience in learning alone keeps me sharp.

My passions began through music when I started learning to play guitar in third grade. Throughout the years, this expanded to music recording, music performance, and an eventual Bachelor’s of Music with emphasis in Recording Technology (and somehow a minor in Physics). Soon after graduating from Lebanon Valley College, I landed a role playing “Daddy Warbucks” in a local stage production of “Annie.” I wasn’t terribly good, but I did accompany myself on the piano during my rendition of “Something Was Missing,” something that most other bald men playing a NYC rich guy wouldn’t dare to pull off. This brief, close encounter with fame is what eventually cemented my career-path as a producer behind the technology rather than an actor/performer.

Even though making music was my original passion, I began dabbling in video production and this dabbling soon consumed me. I soon incorporated an LLC to market my talents and creative passion. Soon after, I met Matt. They say the road to greatness is paved by surrounding yourself with people more talented than you, and Matt was an exceptional example of this. He is one of the few people I’ve met in my lifetime whose creative talents and rate of male pattern baldness greatly exceeded my own. Without haste, “Bearded Bald Guy Productions” was born. The next day (after sleeping on it), we changed the name to Skynine.

As of this writing, I consider myself to be a bit of a fitness buff (subject to change without notice). I have found that a quick routine in the gym followed by an equal 20 minutes in the sauna is refreshing and healthy for the mind, body, and soul. I have not really seen or felt the results yet, but then again it’s only been a month.

I am blessed with an incredibly beautiful and supportive wife, Lauren, who has given me two crazy fun boys named Beckett and Machlan. Together, we make daily attempts to take over the world, or at least rock the hell out of it.

Oh, and if you’re still reading this, congratulations! Ask me how you can save on your next production.
