Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is an agency of the United States government responsible for consumer protection in the financial sector. CFPB’s jurisdiction includes banks, credit unions, securities firms, payday lenders, mortgage-servicing operations, foreclosure relief services, debt collectors, and other financial companies operating in the United States. Since its founding, the CFPB has used technology tools to monitor how financial entities used social media and algorithms to target consumers.
About the Project
Challenges & Solution
For many years, we’ve provided our live webcasting services to the US Department of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s public meetings in partnership with Mainline AV International. We’ve traveled to various locations for these events including Wilmington, DE, Milwaukee, WI, Raleigh, NC and the CFPB’s very own headquarters in Washington, DC. Each event required a live switcher cutting between three cameras while adding live content from the presenters’ Powerpoint presentations.
Some of the meetings included up to 32 individual panelists in an oval-like configuration. This obviously presents some interesting logistics when considering camera and light placement. Our solution was to place remote controlled PTZ cameras in the middle of the oval which allowed us to get the best view while being as unobtrusive as possible.
We suspended our “drum lights” above the panelists to get an even light around the table. The best part – daylight color temperature for a natural look. Even the panelists were commenting on the quality of light!
What’s unique about this kind of production is that there’s no post-production required. Once the event is over, the web-optimized files are immediately available to the Bureau saving hours of time in both post-production and delivery.
