The Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) was established in 1987 by patient turned activist Sharon Monsky, when research on this potentially life threatening illness was nearly nonexistent. Since our founding, we have remained committed to the principle that the best way to help scleroderma patients is to fund the most promising research aimed at improved therapies and a cure.
The SRF is America’s largest nonprofit investor in scleroderma research and devotes a greater percentage of its annual budget to scleroderma research than any other nonprofit organization. Thanks in large part to the SRF and its many generous donors, research is progressing at a faster pace than ever before. The Scleroderma Research Foundation’s annual Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine New York gala raised $920,000 to fund life-saving scleroderma research.
About the Project
Challenges & Solution
Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine is the Scleroderma Research Foundation‘s signature fundraising event, featuring some of the world’s greatest comedians and performing artists. They all donate their time and talents to support SRF’s innovative research programs and help raise awareness about this rare autoimmune disease.
Under the direction of Mainline AV International, we had the pleasure of incorporating motion graphics in QLab. We custom created the motion graphic visuals in conjunction with projection mapping to multiple walls using QLab at Caroline’s Comedy Club in Manhattan, New York.
The projection mapped video along the sides of the stage consisted of soft animations that added intrigue but didn’t distract audience members from the important messages being delivered by the foundation. This complimented the imagery shown on the two 70″ TV screens in the front of the room. To add a little more ambiance to the room, we projected the Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine logo over a stylized New York City skyline with animated twinkling stars in the sky. This was a stunning first impression for those entering the room for the first time that night!
The night was hosted by SRF Board Member Bob Saget and featured appearances by Michael Che, Jim Gaffigan, and John Oliver. Exquisite cuisine by Chef Susan Feniger.
