Challenges & Solution

Skynine Produces Livestream of Commencement Weekend, Ensuring Remote Graduates Can Celebrate With Their Peers

The Peddie School is a private, co-educational boarding and day school in Hightstown, NJ, serving students in grades 9-12 and postgraduate.

In the spring of 2021, Peddie was able to hold an in-person commencement weekend with limited attendees. However, since Peddie is home to a large number of international students, several seniors were unable to attend their graduation and baccalaureate ceremonies in person. Livestreaming the event became essential, and the ability to “conference in” remote graduates was a major bonus.

The Peddie School Hybrid Graduation

Over two days, we produced the hybrid broadcast of Peddie’s Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. Despite a very wet Memorial Day weekend plagued by constant downpours, we were prepared to set up anywhere, from tented fields to the gymnasium. Our confidence stemmed from our crew’s ability to set up quickly and consistently, thanks to our FlexPack flypack and tactical fiber optic solutions.

Skynine Leverages "FlexPack" System, Delivering A Professional Experience For All In-Person and Virtual Attendees

To execute this hybrid event, we used our FlexPack system, three cameras, and eight large display screens. The FlexPack’s matrix router played a crucial role in handling the multitude of independent sources—cameras, media, and remote participants—that were routed to various destinations, including TVs, confidence monitors, the livestream, and remote participants.

The end result was a clean, professional broadcast that provided an exceptional experience for all attendees—whether in person, remote, or watching online.
